Here is their amazing story from their good friend Jessie who nominated them:
The Ingram’s are a family of 5. David, Christie, Carly-3, Olivia-3, and Josh-2. They inspire me to be a better mother and Christian each time I think of them. About 4 years ago (before I knew them) Christie and David were struggling to have a baby. They prayed and prayed that God would bless their home with children, but began to think that must not have been His plan. They went through some infertility treatments with no success and decided adoption was a good choice for them. They were fearful of American adoptions because they had heard so many horror stories of babies being reclaimed by birth parents, so they decided to look internationally. They choose Guatemala, and began the long process. Eventually, the agency contacted them with the news that a little girl was available. They were elated, and began to prepare for her arrival. Several weeks past and then the birth mother changed her mind. They were heart broken. Soon after, Christie who is a special needs Kindergarten teacher, heard of a family in Roswell that recently gave birth to a little girl with Down Syndrome. Christie and David were contacted by the family a little later and they decided to have an open adoption with little Carly. When she was first born she had a very serious heart defect. After being adopted at 7 weeks old she met with several doctors and specialists to determine exactly what they could do to help her. In the end, 12 week old Carly had open heart surgery, which was terrifying for the new parents, but a huge success and a lifesaving event for Carly. Her illness also made it difficult for her to digest properly so she had a feeding tube placed and underwent several other procedures.
A few months past and God called the Ingram’s again to one of his lost children. The Guatemalan agency called again saying they had another little girl. Her name was Olivia and she was 5 months old, one month younger than Carly at the time. Although some people would be frightened by the prospect of having two children so close in age and especially since Carly had so many medical needs, but they had faith that God would provide and care for their family. Little Olivia came to live with the Ingram’s at 6 months old and has been a joy ever since.
Believe it or not God came calling again very soon after. Christie, who was convinced that conceiving a baby was out of the question for her and David found out that they were expecting! Little Josh was born in June of 2006 and just in between his 2 sisters May and June 1st birthday’s! The first years were so tough. Carly had therapy up to 3 times a week, she had pneumonia and all kinds of issues with the feedings. Josh also had to have tubes in his ears and an eye surgery. Needless to day Christie was at the pediatricians office and the ER a lot. Through all of this I never once heard her complain. She knows that God answered her prayers in just the way that he know she could handle and she is so grateful for each of her amazing children.
